Happy Memorial Day XO - Determined D

Hello! As the Holiday closes today is probably the best day to celebrate with a family or friend get-together as the Holiday weekend ends (kick-off to a great summer).  Yesterday, my family and I grilled at home, we had some yummy grilled chicken and healthy veggies, it was awesome.  Today we are headed to another BBQ.  Last night I asked my children what should we bring?   So we made a quick run to the grocery store and put together our own fruit salad.  It contains, blueberries, raspberries, grapes, cherries, blackberries, and cantaloupe...yummy.  Oh, and how could I forget strawberries....

Looks yummy, right?  I am positive it is going to taste good too....
But what are these fruits known for?  Let's see berries are known for disease prevention and the flavonoids that they contain, please see the attached article from About.com.  While cantaloupe is known for containing beta-caratene (good for eyes/vision) and grapes contain nitric oxide (good for heart health).  All fruits are packed with essential vitamins and antioxidents.  Enjoy a fruit today!

Tip of the Day:  Try different fruits and vegetables.  As a kid I disliked oranges, I tried one recently and LOVE them.  I also enjoy seeing what the particular fruit or veggies are good for.  For instance, they say oranges are an excellent source of Vitamin C and can help digestion and broccoli  helps the body fight cell damage.

What is your favorite fruit or vegetable?  I would LOVE to hear from you.
