What does Perseverance Mean to You?

Perseverance  Perseverance Persevere 'Believe in yourself' Perseverance  Perseverance Persevere 'Achieve'

"The thoughts that come to my mind when I hear the word perseverance are, dedication and willpower, which result in achievement - no matter what - No Excuses" ~Determined D.

The idea perseverance came to my mind while driving my daughter to summer camp.  I tend to imagine and brainstorm while driving or walking my dog and think of all words centered around motivation and being healthy.  Perseverance stuck in my mind.  Perseverance is a BOLD word, it stands out in the crowd.  Perseverance is strong-willed.

According to the MWD (Merriam Webster Dictionary, 2011), - Perseverance means continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition : the action or condition or an instance of persevering : steadfastness.  In simple terms - never give up, believe in your dreams and make them happen no matter what you are up against and you will be able to achieve anything big or small. Dedication and willpower will allow you to get there.

We often complain when we should not and take life for granted.  I found the following article very moving and inspirational. The articles focus is on a college football player and his story about 'persevering' despite a disability. His attitude, practice, willpower and determination made him a star. Please view the article for detailed information.http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/football/ncaa/12/11/delaney/:  .

  1. Perseverance reminds me of another inspirational person, his name is Anthony Robles. He is an Arizona State wrestler born with only one leg and won the NCAA title in his weight class. Perseverance means to me of someone that when falls, keeps on getting up. Great piece.

  2. These athletes have what most people take for granted. It's all about your mindset. Imagine two contact sports that require use of your limbs, and these men were born without , but still prevailed. Truly amazing!
