Do the Monday Blues Truly Exist?

How many people wake up on Monday morning and think ~ I could use one more day of rest and relaxation to start my week?  Probably, hmmm, the majority?  I know I do.  In searching for today's motivational quote, I came across what I feel is the perfect quote for Monday's to change peoples perspective on Monday.  Remember, our mind is extremely powerful, if we think it, we can DO IT.  If we think of Monday as the KEY day to the week, or maybe as a "Friday", so to speak, or better yet what happens on Monday, will determine how the rest of the week will go, then it is possible to have an excellent Monday.  It is all about mind set.  If we are "determined" to have a good Monday, we will. Guys, just think later today is Monday night football!  Ladies, a perfect excuse for appetizers :), but remember to make them healthy!
What (if there is such a thing) are the Monday Blues? Yes, the Monday morning blues do exist...  In fact, according to, Dr. Crandall (2011), "They can be deadly"..."A study at Tokyo Women’s Medical University fitted 175 men and women with a device that would measure their blood pressure around the clock for a week, the highest blood pressures were recorded on Monday morning for both men and women"*

Most people have trouble transitioning from a relaxing weekend into the daily work week grind.  However, I am a firm believer this does not have to be the case.

Some things to do to decrease Monday Blues/Stress
  • Stuck in rush-hour or morning traffic?  Blast your radio, music is relaxing and motivating, it can also take your mind off the traffic.  You can also try deep breathing exercises.
  • Relax, getting stressed over every little thing that takes place doesn't help.  Relax and breathe.
  • Put yourself in a happy place.  Think of something that makes you happy. It may be.... A planned vacation?  Cuddle time with your children or honey?  An accomplished goal you feel proud of?
  • Get plenty of sleep.  Go to bed early on Sunday evening.  You will wake up feeling refreshed and HAPPY!
  • Look your best....feel your best.  Make sure you wear your favorite outfit, dress to impress...especially on Monday.
  • Exercise!!!
  • Monday should be the HAPPY starting point to a good and productive week.
  • Have your favorite foods at lunch.
Please share your ideas on how to break the Monday morning blues.
