What Makes Me Happy ~ We have Choices

There are many things that make me happy.  I am not going to pretend that I am never sad, if I wasn't I would not be human. I would be lifeless, emotionless, a boring individual just wasting precious time and space.  Being sad is okay; but being happy and positive put you in a better place, in better spirits with an overall optimistic demeanor.
Life brings us many choices.  It's okay to be sad but when we dwell on sadness it gets us nowhere; it brings us to a dead-end with nowhere to turn.  When we accept sadness or mistakes and turn them into lessons and reflect on what brought us there, we can turn sadness into happiness.  Feeling sad?  Try smiling and letting go of any anger that may be bottled up inside.  It's okay to cry :). 
What makes me happy & "why". 
Family & Friends ~ Family and true friends are always there in times of need.  They know how you are feeling without having to ask.  A true family member and friend always knows how to make you smile; even when you are feeling sad.  They know how to turn sadness into happiness.
My children make me happy, just by giving me hugs or just by thinking about all of their wonderful accomplishments and smiles.  They somehow know how and when to bring happiness to any moment.  
Exercise ~ Exercise is something we do for ourselves. It makes us feel better physically and emotionally.  It also makes our outward appearance shine.  Choose an exercise that makes you feel like you accomplished something.  Even if you start with walking (this is how I initially lost weight) you will be up and moving.  It may take some trial and error before you find what exercise works for you.  Its okay, just do not give up! 

I also believe exercise allows individuals to release stress.  I know it isn't possible to be stress free at all times. I look forward to exercise as a big stress reliever and often leave feeling great and de-stressed! 
Nature ~ Get out and enjoy your day.  I truly enjoy walking or exercising outdoors.  I feel that it gives you a better work-out, walking or running up or down steep hills gives you more of a challenge.  Personally, I feel more motivated outdoors. 
I have a friend who does cross-fit.  When she lived in Virginia Beach, at times they would do their cross-fit sessions on the beach.  I think this is amazing.  There is something about just having the wind in your face and enjoying the beautiful surroundings whether it be the sand, waves, leaves, breeze, ocean, rain, or animals.  Embrace the beautiful life and creation around us. 
Motivating others ~ One of the main reasons I keep daily entries on this site is in hope of someone, somewhere (even if it is only one person) is inspired to go out with the notion that they can DO anything.  Nothing makes me more happy than to see someone smile or plan a goal that will lead to an accomplishment. 
I love to lead others to better places and opportunities; it is the reason I mentor college students, it is the reason why I want to teach professionally, it is the reason why I enjoy the field of management, it is the reason why I express my feelings and ideas through writing and the reason why I believe in second chances. 
Smiles are contagious ~    Smiles are okay to spread.  I smile often and try to laugh a lot.  One smile can make someones entire day. I used to see this everyday;
Smiling is contagious,
you catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at
me today, I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner,
and someone saw my grin -
When he smiled I
realized, I'd passed it on to him.

I thought about that smile,
then I realized its worth,
A single smile, just like mine,
could travel round the earth.
So, if you feel a smile begin,
don't leave it undetected -
Let's start an epidemic quick
and get the world infected!!!
