Care about yourself first. Has that ever come to mind when you have thought about caring? If you are like many gracious giving people, probably not. Caring for yourself first helps an individual to become a more capable and giving person.
Take a moment to reflect upon the quote above by Karl Lagerfeld. Some people have a problem saying "no" to others. If you don't put yourself first, and care for you - who will? If we spread ourselves to thin and continually make sacrifices to keep others happy we lose ourselves, our identity. We will become an empty shell because we would be to wrapped up in caring about everyone else except the one that matters the most - YOU. When you are happy and satisfied with yourself, you will be ready to care for the ones who matter the most.
We may also get so wrapped up into our daily routine and schedules that we may overlook many things that were once important to us. Care for yourself, care for your body, and care about how you appear on the inside and out.
With that, I found a great site that gives us 55 gentle Ways to Care for Yourself. My favorite tip is first on the list - Say no to anything that is not important to you. Again this ties into do not sacrifice your own time for others.
Always remember no matter how hectic your day may be, always take some you time, even if it means sitting down for 5 minutes enjoying some tea, or taking a bubble bath. No matter, what do it smiling and thinking about yourself and no one else.
