Fat Is Not The Enemy

For a long time, doctors and dieticians advocated low-fat diets as the healthy way to eat. Food producers jumped on the bandwagon and low-fat versions of most meals became available.  The problem is that every food needs something to hold it together. If the fat is taken away it is sugar that has been used to do this. High sugar levels are far more harmful than high-fat levels.

Now though, things have changed as it has been realized that to operate at their best, our bodies need fats. Of course, there are some that are healthier than others, but nonetheless, without fats, you will be more likely to become ill.

Our brains are nearly 60% fat and that needs feeding. Our immune system needs fats to be properly effective and our lungs need the fatty layer they have to protect them.

There Are More Dangerous Enemies

There are some foods that are more dangerous to our bodies than fats. Sugar is the worst of all as it has been linked to heart diseases, diabetes, hypertension, blood pressure problems, and some cancers. In fact, too much of any type of carbs is not good for you.

This is exactly why more and more people are eating a ketogenic diet, as very few carbs are included. It is mainly fats that are eaten and some proteins. People are losing weight and becoming healthier by going against all the advice that was given for many years. KetoLogic’s 30-day weight loss challenge is a typical example of how dieters have changed their ways, and are becoming more successful at reaching their goal because of it. It works well because it encourages your body to burn fat for energy, which makes you lose weight. Also, the energy boost from fats is greater and longer lasting than any you will get from carbs.

Good And Bad Fats

There are some fats that are better for our bodies than others, but the worst thing you can eat, after sugars, are processed foods. For instance, if you are having milk, have the full0cream option that has not been through processes to reduce the amount of fat. Avoid margarine at all costs and opt for butter instead. Natural fats are good for our brain, will improve the condition of your skin and you will have more energy.

Nuts, seeds, coconut oil, and olive oil are all examples of good fats. You are unlikely to find they have been used in processed foods. They will always use the cheapest option, which is usually the worst as far as health is concerned.

They will also contain preservatives, and they can be made from a huge array of chemicals that are no good for our health at all.

Some of the most natural and nutrient-rich foods are high in fat. If you focus your diet on whole and natural food and forget the processed ones, you will be consuming fats that are good for your body and will help you to control your weight.

Eating Fat Will Not Make You Fat

It is a common health myth that eating fats will make you fat. The opposite is true. Fats, because they are such a great source of energy that fills us and is more satisfying than carbs. The feeling of fullness or the energy boost that carbs provide is very short-lived. You will feel hungry quicker and be more lifeless if your diet is high in carbs.

As you will feel fuller, you are less likely to snack between meals, and that has to be an advantage when you are trying to reduce your weight. You will probably only eat what you need at meal times too, as that feeling of having had enough will not take so long to arrive. Preventing overeating and snacking are important factors when you are trying to lose weight.

Prevent Binging

On a strict calorie controlled diet, your body may start to feel deprived, wondering when it will next be fed. This means that you will be much more likely to binge on the bad stuff that packs on the weight. This explains why some people trying to control calories gain weight rather than lose it. They just get too hungry and that causes the weight gain.

Fats will keep your metabolism going, keep your cells fed for longer and keep you feeling far more satiated, then your body will stop trying to store the things it does not need.

There have been many things over the years that research has since shown we were being advised wrongly about, and cutting fats from our diets was one of them.
